Cruise Explorer ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at cruiseexplorer.app (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

a. Information You Provide

When you use the AI Concierge, we receive the text of your questions. We do not require you to create an account or provide any personal identification to use the Service.

b. Automatically Collected Information

We use PostHog for privacy-focused product analytics. We collect:

  • Usage events — interactions with the AI Concierge (e.g., question length, response time) to improve the feature. We do not store full question text in analytics.
  • Basic device information — browser type, screen size, and general location (country level) derived from your IP address. We do not store raw IP addresses.

Session recording is disabled. Autocapture is disabled. We only track events we have explicitly defined.

c. Local Storage

We store a randomly generated session identifier in your browser's localStorage to maintain continuity in your AI Concierge conversation. This identifier is not linked to any personal information and can be cleared by clearing your browser data.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide and maintain the Service.
  • Improve the AI Concierge feature based on aggregated usage patterns.
  • Monitor and fix technical issues.
  • Understand how the Service is used at an aggregate level.

3. Cookies

Cruise Explorer does not use traditional tracking cookies. PostHog may set a first-party cookie or use localStorage to maintain an anonymous distinct ID for analytics. No third-party advertising cookies are used.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. Aggregated, non-identifiable analytics data may be processed by:

  • PostHog — product analytics (PostHog Privacy Policy).
  • Cloudflare — hosting and content delivery (Cloudflare Privacy Policy).
  • Mapbox — map rendering (Mapbox Privacy Policy).
  • AI model providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, and others) — the AI Concierge sends your questions to third-party language-model APIs to generate responses. These providers may process your messages in accordance with their own privacy policies.

5. Data Retention

Analytics event data is retained for up to 12 months and then deleted. AI Concierge conversations are not permanently stored and are cleared when your session ends or when you clear your browser data.

6. Your Rights

Because we do not collect personal identification information, most data-subject rights (access, correction, deletion) do not apply in a traditional sense. However, you can:

  • Clear local data — delete your browser's localStorage to remove your session identifier.
  • Opt out of analytics — use a browser extension that blocks PostHog, or enable "Do Not Track" in your browser settings.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
